In accordance with the announcement issued by the National Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China on March 26, 2020, China has decided to temporarily suspend foreign nationals holding valid visas or residence permits from entering China effective from 12:00 AM on March 28, 2020. Entry by foreign nationals with APEC Business Travel Cards will also be suspended. Policies including port visas, the 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, the Hainan 30-day visa-free policy, the Shanghai 15-day visa-free policy for cruise tour groups, the Guangdong 144-hour visa-free policy for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong or Macao SAR and the Guangxi 15-day visa-free policy for foreign tour groups from ASEAN countries will also be temporarily suspended. Entry for holders of diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected. Foreign nationals coming to China for essential economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or in response to the needs of a humanitarian emergency may apply for a visa at Chinese embassies or consulates. Entry by foreign nationals with visas issued after this announcement will not be affected.

According to a joint announcement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the National Immigration Administration on September 23, 2020, the following adjustments will be made to the Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Immigration Administration on the Temporary Suspension of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits issued on 26 March 2020: Effective from 12:00 AM, 28 September 2020, foreign nationals holding valid Chinese residence permits for work, personal matters, and reunion are allowed to enter China with no need to apply for new visas. If a foreign national holds one of the three residence permit categories listed above and the permit expired after 12:00 AM, 28 March 2020, the holder may apply for the relevant visa by presenting the expired residence permit and relevant materials to a Chinese embassy or consulate, on the condition that the purpose of the holders’ visit to China has not changed. Those individuals mentioned above must strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control regulations set by the People's Republic of China. All other measures referenced within the March 26 Announcement will continue to be implemented.

In accordance with the Announcement on Requirements for Overseas Chinese Passengers to Report Health Information for Epidemic Prevention Before Returning Home by Air issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the General Administration of Customs on April 7, 2020, Chinese passengers who have purchased a ticket for flights from certain countries to China shall report their health information in advance to curb the cross-border spread of the epidemic. In accordance with the Announcement on Presenting Negative Results of a COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Test Before Boarding by Passengers Taking Flights Bound for China issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the General Administration of Customs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 20, 2020:
